Raaz: The Mystery Discontinues…

Dear Editor,

The mystery discontinues. Yes it does, I didn’t sleep that night, not because it was scary, but because it was so boring I slept in the theatre only. Raaz has been executed very well, no doubt but the story is so poorly written that the execution doesn’t make sense. The music is very good and cinematography is also commendable. Adhyayan Suman’s performance was average, Emraan has also improved, Kangana is good too. I can recall some scenes which are really well executed, for e g. there’s a scene where it shows Kangana getting slammed by a truck, another scene shows Kangana standing in front of the mirror, then she moves, but her shadow stays as it is. The best scene is where she’s in the bath tub, and two hands come out of the tub. I am giving Raaz 3 stars for the direction only. But Raaz still doesn’t work because of the poor story. In short, if you don’t have an AC at home, then go watch Raaz.

Thank you,

Ramesh Bhatt

Dear Editor,

Shahrukh Khan is the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, Aamir Khan is the ‘perfectionist’ and Salman Khan is..well.. Salman Khan is Salman Khan. Whatever might be the title that they are conferred with, one cannot escape the fact that the trio together might be the biggest thing that the film industry has ever seen, even bigger than Big B, C or D for that matter.

There’s no denying the fact that each of them have a dedicated fan base that runs into millions, but what I’m really stumped about is the fact that suddenly it seems like acting has taken a back seat over shooting deer, copying stories, developing six or eight pack bags. Now, before you take out your guns, let me tell you that I think all the 3 Khans are supremely talented, but somewhere down the line it just feels that the stars have become bigger than the actors. Case in point, SRK -> In his glorious 12 years in the industry SRK the actor might have shone in only 2 or maximum 3 movies. Even Aamir Khan the “method-actor” royally hammed in more than a couple of scenes in his latest releases and the lesser said about Salman Khan the better. He hams, fakes his accents and takes of his shirts many more times than to our liking.

Though we are happy to see them make movies, all we are asking is that, will the real actor please stand up? Oh and just for the record, I feel that Aamir is the best actor of the lot.

Comments, brickbats, flowers awaited.

Sincerely,
RJ
